Local teams pick up volleyball wins

Paragould topped Nettleton for the second time in four days, winning 25-21, 25-7, 22-25, 25-20 Tuesday in high school volleyball conference match at PHS.

The Lady Rams defeated Nettleton on Saturday on the way to placing second in the Gold bracket of the Carmack Playday at Valley View.

Tuesday, Zoey Beasley drilled 21 kills and Karsen Williams had 31 assists as PHS won again. Williams also had six digs.

Lena Schreit had a double-double with 13 kills and 14 digs plus two service aces. Anna Quinn recorded 13 kills, Shea Malone had 24 assists, Taylor Beasley had nine kills and 17 digs, Abby Rogers had 19 digs and four kills and Bella Deatherage added 13 digs for the winners, now 16-3 overall and 11-2 in league.

Gracie Miller pounded out 18 kills to lead Nettleton. Miller also added 14 digs for the Lady Raiders.

Paragould won the junior high match 3-0.

Paige Glenn had seven kills and two digs and Laney Blankenship contributed 21 assists, five digs and one kill in the 22-25, 27-25, 15-10 victory.

Macy Easley added seven kills and three digs while Ally Formon had three kills and two digs, Quincy Osborn had two kills, Makayla Fletcher had three digs, one block, one ace and one kill, and Caroline Burrow provided four digs.

Paragould's girls travel to Marion today.

CRA cruises at Trumann

TRUMANN -- Crowley's Ridge Academy received solid production from nearly every player Tuesday night to defeat Trumann 25-18, 25-9, 25-17.

Thanks to 15 and 10 assists from Maggie Malone and Lily Newsom, respectively, Carley Luke led the Lady Falcons (16-6) with eight kills. Tori Cupp added six kills, four blocks and five digs, and Emi Elms and Camille Allmon had four kills apiece, Elms adding five blocks.

Matte Hardin chipped in with eight digs while going 16 of 16 from the service line. Malone was 15-of-15 serving, Newsome hit on 14 of 17, Luke was 10 of 11, Cupp went 12-of-15 and Elms was 16 of 20 on the night.

CRA won the junior high contest 26-24, 7-25, 15-13.

The Lady Falcons' next match is Monday at Walnut Ridge.

GCT girls blast Blytheville

Greene County Tech coasted to a 3-0 win over Blytheville on Tuesday in high school volleyball.

The Lady Eagles won with no trouble, 25-2, 25-4, 25-8.

Callie McPherson had a team-best eight kills and Madison Robinson had a double-double -- 18 assists and 15 aces -- to lead the Lady Eagles.

Also for GCT Sabrina Kellett had five kills and one assist; Kristen Grubb got four kills; Gabby Hudson and Skylar Boyd each had three kills; Tiffany Gramling had two kills; Kinley Prichard and Maria Tapia each had three digs; Lexi Hale had two digs and four aces; and Claire Johnson had five assists.

In the junior high match Tech beat Blytheville in straight sets 25-10, 25-6.

Macy McLain had three kills, Abbie Bobbitt had two kills, six aces and four assists; Bailey Overshine had four assists, one dig and one ace while Emma Bates had four aces and two assists, Kylie Stokes had one kill, Gracie Gay had one ace, Sky Snyder had one kill, Mattie Burk had four aces and two digs, Hailey Williams had one kill, Hallie Oden had one dig and Kaylie Adkerson added one dig.

Monday night, GCT fell to Mountain Home in a five-set battle, 19-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-17.

Gramling led the Eagles with 12 kills, four blocks and one block and Grubb added 10 kills, two blocks, three digs and one assist. McPherson finished with 10 kills.
