Metea held its annual Powderpuff game this past Wednesday night on the Mustang stadium field for homecoming week. The game consists of two junior girl teams and two senior girls teams who compete in flag football for the grand championship title.
“Nothing beats being able to represent your school, your friends, and things you’re passionate about,” senior Maeve Riordan said.
Metea teachers, parents, and students were able to come out, show school spirit, and support the Lady Mustangs as they compete against one another. While the teams were able to play throughout the exciting evening, the Metea community was able to donate to the four different charities that the Powderpuff teams hosted if they wanted to.
“Even though [my team] lost our first game, it was still a great experience,” junior Areeba Moiz said.
Since the game occurred during the week of spirit week and Homecoming week, the event was one of many to encourage students to participate in spirit week and what’s to come for the rest of the week.
“[Powderpuff is] for charity, and I thought it would be fun,” junior Abby Kilgore said.
The Powderpuff game, and other events, like the Color Run and Chalk the Walk, help get the students of Metea boost their excitement for the upcoming Homecoming football game on Friday night and dance on Saturday night.
