Van Buren Pointer basketball picked up win #1 on the season with a 58-52 win over Shiloh Christian at Clair Bates Arena.

The Pointers jumped up early and led by as many as 16 in the first half. Shiloh closed it to a 4 pt. lead in the 2Q and settled for a 7 pt. deficit when Ty Cobley tossed in a 3 pointer at the halftime buzzer.

Shiloh took the lead with 3:00 to play in the 3Q at 40-39. After trading baskets Jaxon Cazzell put the Pointers ahead to stay with a right side 3 and a 44-42 lead.

With 4:00 to play in the 4th quarter, Van Buren got a big 3 from Devin Mays to take the lead to 7 pts and the Pointers pushed it to a 9 pt lead on a defensive steal and run out layup by Jaxon Cazzell with 1:20 to play.

Van Buren held on for the 6 pt win with late FT's from AG Denton, Glavine McDonald and Jaxon Cazzell.

Senior guard, Jaxon Cazzell led all scorers with 27 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Senior, Glavine McDonald added 10 pts and 6 rebounds and Junior, AG Denton lead all rebounders with 8.

Junior, Ty Cobley led the team with 4 assists.
