The Pointers picked up a solid road win on Thursday with a 52-33 win over Harrison. This was the 8th win for Van Buren in their last 9 games and got them back on track after their first conference loss at Alma on Tuesday.
Sophomore Truett Cazzell paced the Pointers with 22 points and added 8 rebounds. Senior Gabe Johnson recorded his 10th double/double on the season with 14 points and 14 rebounds and Senior Brodie Myers added 5 rebounds and a team high 5 assists.
The game was played at a methodical pace with Van Buren separating slowly throughout the game. The Pointers took a 13 point lead into halftime behind a 17 point performance by Truett Cazzell. The third quarter was relatively even with Van Buren extending the lead in the fourth for the final 19 point win.
The win puts the Pointers at 16-6 overall and 5-1 in 5A West play. Currently tied with Alma for second place in conference Van Buren will be off for 8 days and host league leading Farmington for homecoming on Friday, Jan. 30.
