VAN BUREN – For the second time this season but the first time at home, the Pointers broke the school record in the 100-meter dash.

Toray Wilford ran a 10.84 on Thursday at the Pointer Relays to break the four-week old record, while the Fayetteville Lady Bulldogs set five meet records.

Wilford finished just ahead of Trendon Moseley and Landon Staub of Greenbrier by .01 and .03 seconds, respectively.

Micah Hendrickson set the Van Buren record of 10.86 seconds at the Tiger Relays in Bentonville in March.

When Wilford was informed it was a school record, he had an idea it was.

"I think so, it felt good," Wilford said. "It felt good when I was running. I had great competition."

Wilford also ran in the 4x100 relay and the 200 on Thursday.

Fayetteville junior Izzy Sategna also had a good day on Thursday, winning three events.

Sategna won the 100 with a time of 12.24 seconds, which is a top-10 time in the state this season.

"It felt good, the gun was a little fast," Sategna said. "Other than that it was good."

Sategna also anchored the 4x100 relay team that won with a time of 48.95 seconds along with Reece Bertram, Addyson Turner and Kaliyah Cheers, breaking a Pointer Relays record of 49.33 seconds set in 2013 by Bentonville.

She also won the 400 with a time of 55.88, a personal record, top time in the state this season and Pointer Relays record of 56.43 set by Anna Woolsey of Ozark three years ago.

She's already qualified for state in the 100- and the 200.

Sategna used the meet for a warm-up for the state meet.

"It definitely is," Sategna said. "The 400 is more for conditioning. I'm hoping I can put out a good time and pre-qualify for state in that. It's a good feeling seeing everybody out there, the more teams, the better the competition and the better you perform."

Fayetteville's 4x200 relay team also won with a time of 1:43.45, anchored by Matti Moore with Turner, Aubreauna Ramsey and Cheers, breaking the Pointer Relays record of 1:48.55 set by Poteau four years ago.

The win came about an hour after Moore won the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.83 seconds, breaking the record of 15.25 set by Whitney Anderson of Russellville 22 years ago.

"The turnaround it's about the same," Moore said. "I also did long jump, so I'm kind of tired. I've got triple jump coming up."

Moore also won the triple jump in her final event with a lead of 37 feet, 8-3/4 inches, which broke a Pointer Relay record of 37-2 by Gracie Carter of Van Buren five years ago.

Moore is always that active on Meet day.

"I usually do five or six events," Moore said. "I have three practices per day. I go from my Fayetteville practice, to my club practice and then to a trainer. I've gotten used to it. I've been doing that for two or three years."

This was the first meet for that exact quartet to run together.

"The team is pretty much set," Moore said. "We're still experimenting with different girls, but all of the teams we've had have been pretty good. It was pretty good. I'm happy with this group."

Sophomore Nora Wise of Rogers Heritage jumped to a big lead and kept a big lead in winning the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 16 seconds, which was 15 seconds ahead of second-place Ly Le of Fort Smith Southside.

"I tried to get out fast," Wise said. "I wanted to feel out the race. I felt good and just kept going and pushing through."

Wise was never threatened.

"I heard some people cheering for the people behind me," Wise said. "I tried to pick it up. I was trying to run a 5:10."

Southside's Rhett Moss took the lead at the midway point of the boys 1,600 and won narrowly ahead of a Bentonville trio of Alex Wagner, Jude Woody and Leo Arivett.

"I was kind of worried there about the 200," Moss said. "I had to kick it into another gear especially the last 100."

Moss, Wagner, Woody and Arivett were bunched together the entire way just ahead of the pack before Moss took the narrow lead and kept it to win the a personal best time of 4 minutes 27.44 seconds and less than a second ahead of Wagner.

"My plan today was to hunt," Moss said. "So I paced off of them the first 800, the last 800 it was time to go."

Moss knew the competition at the Pointers Relays would be fierce with a big field.

"I'm so excited," Moss said. "This just boosted my effort. I'm so excited for what I'm going to do in college. Our season is wrapping up so I really want to do good for my family and my coaches."

Moss will next run in the McDonalds Relays on his home track at Southside on April 23.

Southside's Ethan Dunn won both the boys discus and the shot put.

Dunn set a personal record in the discus with a toss of 173-4 and shot of 56-9.
