Van Buren is packing for Tennessee this week.

Area high school baseball coaches will be on the road this week hoping to bottle a little magic when conference play resumes next week.

Upstart Van Buren, now 7-0 following Friday's 6-3 win over Alma, will be in Bartlett, Tenn., today to face the Panthers at 7 p.m. Van Buren will play two more Tennessee teams Wednesday — St. Benedict at Aubundale and Collierville.

The Pointers' pitching staff has allowed eight earned runs (1.91) through seven games, with Dalton Reeves winning three games and Ethan Holmes and Trevor Johnson going 2-0.

Senior Connor Catron has been nothing short of sensational for the Pointers, hitting .500 (12-of-24) with a 1.185 OPS (on base plus slugging). He's also scored a team-high eight runs.

The Pointers are hitting .365 as a team, and they've outscored their first seven opponents 40-12.

Landry Wilkerson (.480), Johnson (.444), Ethan Holmes (.385) and Chase Moore (.333) are also playing well.

Van Buren resumes 7A-West play March 28 against Bentonville.
