Van Buren’s Lani Snowen signed a letter of intent to play basketball with Henderson State on Thursday.

“I”m ready to get playing again, because I want to keep playing,” Snowden said.

Snowden is undecided as to what she’ll study in college, she said.

Henderson State finished 8-20 and 8-12 in the Great American Conference last year.

“Henderson will use Lani’s shooting ability with the fast-paced style of play,” Van Buren coach Chris Bryant said. “Like the rest of the team, Lani has always been about the big picture. Her mentality and capability allowed us to play games at a higher level. She represented our program, community, and is a great student.

“The best compliment I can give Lani is that she left the program better than when she started.”

Snowden said she’ll treasure her Van Buren teammates.

“Halie Jennen and I have been playing together since the summer of our sixth grade year,” Snowden said. “She’s always been my best friend and with the rest of the team we had such good chemistry.”
