The Van Buren Pointers have enjoyed another hot start to the season.

The Pointers, who won their first 10 games in 2017, are 11-1 heading into today’s 7A-West game with Bentonville. The Pointers are already 2-0 in conference play.

Van Buren outscored its three opponents 41-3 last week during. Slow-starting Landry Wilkerson has raised his batting average to .318, compiling a .578 mark (11-for-19) over his last five games.

Evan Jones (.448), Ethan Rauser (.405) and Seth Humphrey (.385) have enjoyed hot starts. Bryson Patrick is batting .286 with one extra-base hit, and leads the team with 18 RBIs.

Jones and Chase Moore (.364) have 13 RBIs, Wilkerson 12, and Jackson Hurst nine.

Trevor Johnson and Jones headline the pitching staff, with Johnson striking out 29 in 23 2/3 innings of work.

Johnson has an 0.87 earned run average.
