A five-run bottom of the first was plenty for the Lady Pointers as they got a much-needed 7A-West win at home on Friday.

Van Buren (12-11, 4-7) had three players with two-hit games. Whitney Ellis was 2-for-3 and drove in four runs, a two-run triple in the first as well as a two-run single in the fourth to give the Lady Pointers a 7-2 lead.

Hannah Brewer also was 2-for-4, including an RBI single in the first. Caroline Davis was 2-for-4 as well.

Richelle Stacy was the winning pitcher. She went all seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits. Stacy didn’t walk a single batter and she struck out three.
