They were 1-1 in the Tournament of Champions in Fort Smith, abbreviated due to the winter weather in early December. The Lady Pointers lost to Moore, Okla., before beating Tulsa East Central.

The Pointers are 4-9 after losing all three games in the Coca-Cola Christmas Classic at UAFS last week.

Van Buren dropped a 65-61 decision to Pulaski Robinson in double overtime in the tournament opener. Van Buren lost to Little Rock Fair, 58-43, and to Pleasant Grove, Texas, 66-64.

Van Buren returns no starters from last year with with K.J. Stewart moving to Colorado and Presley Kindrix moving to Spiro.

“We’re starting way over,” Van Buren head coach Austin Trembley said. “We’re definitely young, but they’re trying their best.”

Braydon Gilmore received a couple of starts late in the conference season, and Ethan Moore came off the bench for some varsity minutes but that’s about it.
