Van Buren’s boys claimed the team championship of the 6A-Central conference bowling tournament, held Wednesday in Conway.


The Pointers, who compete in the 6A-Central for bowling, won the event with 4,267 total pins. Two-time defending state champion Southside was third with 3,624 total pins, while Northside was fifth with 3,170.

Van Buren also had the top two individual bowlers in Jake Pullan, who finished first after rolling a 686 (278-180-228) and runner-up Caleb Jenkins with a 667 (221-223-223).

Southside’s top individual bowler was Andrew Stephen, who finished seventh with a 587 (168-182-237).

The top individual boys bowler for Northside was Jeffery Sengsirivanh, who came in 16th after rolling a 492 (144-181-167).

On the girls side, Cabot was the team champion. Southside came in fourth place with 2,673 total pins, followed by Northside in fifth with 2,509 and Van Buren was sixth with 2,336.

Southside’s Rachel Salisbury placed 11th in the individual standings after rolling a 439 (131-162-146).

The Northside Lady Bears had Keith Tampus finish at 16th with a 403 (124-129-150).


Van Buren’s top girls finisher was Miranda Lockey, who was 14th with a 407 (126-141-140).

Next Thursday, the 6A State Tournament will take place in Fort Smith at Bowling World.
