The Van Buren junior high squads took either first or second in their respective divisions at the Mansfield Invitational on Saturday.

Tyler Lemley earned medalist honors in the junior boys event on Saturday.

Jayden Thompson and Amberlie Ming provided the one-two punch to help the Lady Pointers take runner-up at the at the Mansfield Invitational.

The Pointers had five runners in the Top 6 to help the squad clinch the win.

Lemley completed the 3K course in 10:24.89 Dawson Freeman grabbed third (10:41.53) followed by Cody Lowry (fourth, 10:50.95), Khanh Troung (fifth, 10:50.95) and Zach Hewett (sixth, 11:01.28). Other Van Buren runners were Aiden Everett (73rd, 13:36.93) and Morgan Foster (96th, 14:23.56).

The Lady Pointers finished with 83 points. Greenwood led the event with 29 points and five Top 10 finishes. Acorn and Waldron tied for third with 85 points each.

Other Van Buren runners contributing to the point total was Stevie Cogar (28th, 14:45.18), Emma Morton (32nd, 15:05.440) and Tatum Burris (56th, 15:59.4). Rania Daley (16:19.47) and Abigail Bramlett (16:21.28) along with Jacey Montez, Kimberly Wood, Brooklyn Fancher, Emily Kelley, Abigail Delafuente and Beau Martin all finished in the Top 100.

Van Buren High School

Remi Mulloy and Mason Hayes finished in the Top 10 for Van Buren at the Sept. 20 University of the Ozarks meet in Clarksville. Mulloy was fifth (18:12) and Hayes took seventh (18:19). Cameron Rush placed 18th (19:04) as Travis Cooper (25th, 19:25), Colin Rogers (33rd, 19:42), Cordell Landon (37th, 20:01) and Marcus Roberson (49th, 20:22) rounded out the rest of the team. Caleb Lawley also ran for the Pointers as he took 70th (21:19).


Dylan Douglas earned medalist honors as he paced Maumelle to a first-place finish. Maumelle had six Top 15 runners and finished with 39 points (only the top five runners were counted towards the team’s total. Greenwood was second with 71 points followed by Vilonia (77) and Van Buren (81).

The Lady Pointers had just three runners with Riley Giberson grabbing 18th (24:25) as the top runner for Van Buren. Daisy Connor (45th, 26:30.9) and Jordan Brodie (83rd, 29:24.5).

Alma

The Airedales finished third behind Waldron and Mena at the Mansfield Invitational on Saturday as the team had four Top 20 runners.

Caleb Osman led Alma as he finished third overall in 18:34.06. Montana Webb was 15th (21:08.84) followed by Joey White (16th, 21:12.59) and Jake Westfall (18th, 21:19.69).

Other Alma runners include Mitchell Remington (27th, 23:19.69), Cole Spencer (28th, 23:20.02), Fransico Pina (30th, 23:22.62) and Hunter Padilla (45th, 26:51.06).

Heather Padilla had a Top 15 finish as she took 13th at the Mansfield Invitational during the high school race. Padilla completed the 5K course in 24:31.9. Teammates Chole Ray (25th, 27:46.87) and Kari White (37th, 33:03.33) also ran at the event.


Cedarville

Aaron Lawson and Isaiah Lawson ran for the Pirates on Saturday at the Mansfield Invitational. Aaron Lawson was 31st (23:23.7) and Isaiah Lawson took 41st (25:37.09).

Mountainburg

Jesse Quick was the top finisher for the Dragons at the University of the Ozarks event as he completed the course in 24:35 followed by teammates Dalton Bennet (25:11) and Blake Byron (25:35).

Renee Cude led Mountainburg as the only Top 100 finisher in the event as she took 86th (30:01). Leanna Rouzer (32:20.3) and Marissa Bennett (39:49.9) also completed the course. Rouzer was the only runner at the Mansfield race and she took 33rd (30:48.9).

At the Mansfield Invitational, Jorgia Rutherford was 29th (14:56.78) and Maggie Burrough placed 43rd (15:31) in the junior high girls” division.
