Avery Salisbury was chosen for the Arkansas River Valley USA Today Courage Award in a recent announcement.

After suffering a severe foot injury during his Sophomore year, Avery was told he may never play basketball again.

Fast forward 3 years and he led his team in scoring and rebounding while bringing home All-State & All-Conference honors. He also set the all-time mark for 3 pt. makes in Van Buren Basketball history and secured the highest team win total and conference finish in 5 years.

Avery's story is a tremendous example of resilience and toughness and is a worthy recipient of this recognition.
