The Pointers closed out Homecoming 2023 with a big win over Mountain Home. In an old school rock fight of a game, Van Buren overcame a tough Bomber team for a 58-47 win.

Junior Glavine McDonald led the Pointers with 20 points in the win while Junior Drew Brasuell added 13 points and Senior Conner Myers finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Senior Malachi Henry and Junior Jaxon Cazzell led the team in rebounding with 5 and 6 boards respectively.

The Pointers jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in the win. Van Buren held a 28-18 halftime advantage thanks to a big three pointer to end the half by Glavine McDonald.

Mountain Home (13-13 / 4-6) came in boasting the 5A West's leading scorer in 6'5" Junior Braiden Dewey. He came into CBA averaging almost 20 points per game in conference play and was held to 11 by Conner Myers and a collective effort by the entire Pointer defense.

The home win puts Van Buren in a 3 way tie for 3rd place in 5A West play and two games behind first place Siloam Springs with 4 to play.

Next up for the Pointers (15-11 / 6-4) is a road test at rival Alma on Tuesday, February 14.
