Senior guard Trenton Cooley can completely take over a game with his athletic abilities. That was the case again.

Cooley finished with a game-high 28 points to go with 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and a block to snap a two-game skid for Van Buren (9-13, 2-4). He drilled 7 shots behind the arc.

"We just knew we had to come into this game strong," Cooley said. "I just wanted to set the pace right for the team. This is a nice moral change. We've struggled a little bit. Tonight it worked out well."

Cooley had it going from the start. He scored 11 points in the opening quarter to help Van Buren out to a 16-11 lead. The Pointers were up 27-19 at halftime. Cooley then scored 17 second-half points to help put the game away.

"He was special," Van Buren Coach Brad Autry said. "And that doesn't surprise anyone. At any given time, he makes a big impact on the game. He is just a ball player."

Van Buren was also guided by Gabe Johnson (11 points with 9 rebounds) and A.G. Denton (9 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists).

Siloam Springs (10-12, 1-5) used a balanced effort led by Evan Allen (12 points with 6 rebounds), AJ Moore (11 points), Jayden Hooton (10 points with 6 assists), Stewart Schwaninger (8 points with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals) and Darien Caldwell (6 points with 5 rebounds and 3 steals).
