VAN BUREN -- Peyton Bobbitt naturally swung his golf clubs left handed before switching and draining a putt right handed to help Van Buren finish high in a golf tournament as a sophomore.

While it was a strange site for his teammates at the time, it was no big deal for Bobbitt.

"I switched putters mid-round using my dad's," Bobbitt said. "That was two years ago. I shoot a bow right handed. Baseball, I pitch right handed and hit left handed. Basketball, I shoot both."

Bobbitt signed his National Letter of Intent with the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Tuesday before his classmates at Clair Bates Arena at a signing ceremony.

"I hit the ball about 300 with my driver, but putting has always been my thing," Bobbitt said. "I did so bad left handed, putting that I switched."

The combination of UAM being a top agriculture school as well as golf coach Ken Hamilton made the choice easy for Bobbitt, who will major in Animal Science.

Perkins is poised to become the first All-State outfielder in school history.

"I'm hard on myself and it pays off the fact that I can achieve that goal," Perkins said. "I wasn't a starter my freshman and to have my name come up as that does drive me to be better because I know I can be better."

Michael and Perkins started the Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle group after games last year for the Lady Pointers. Perkins has stepped into the lead role for that this year with junior Lauren Mills, who take over the leadership next year."

"We'd make everybody stay after practice for 5 or 10 minutes, and we'd have a paper we'd do during third hour and we'd talk about it and ask for any questions or if anybody had prayer requests," Perkins said. "God is a big part of the Van Buren softball team. It's Him before everything."

Speed and defense was a primary reason for Williams Baptist to pursue Perkins.

"The process is a lot," Perkins s... Click here to read full article
